Technical Program Manager, Core ML, Frameworks and Compilers

  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 8 years of machine learning work experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in any one of the following; deep learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX), or deep learning compiler or kernel development.
  • Experience with cloud-based ML platforms and infrastructure.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Core ML is Google's central platform team dedicated to providing machine learning software, tools, services, and infrastructure to various Google product areas. The mission is to advance machine learning capabilities across Google and beyond. The team focuses on simplifying ML experimentation, development, and production, collaborating with Google Research and other teams to bring innovative ML models and technologies to market. This work helps Google adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of ML hardware and software.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic direction and execution for ML frameworks (e.g.,TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch, etc.) and compilers across Alphabet, including Google.
  • Align Engineering, Product, and Technical Program Manager leadership, ensuring cohesive project priorities and schedules.
  • Collaborate with partner Product Associates (e.g., Search, YouTube, etc.) to manage expectations, facilitate smooth delivery, and minimize escalations.
  • Proactively identify and resolve cross-functional and inter-team issues, managing multiple projects.
  • Manage releases and engagement for high-visibility open-source libraries, designing scalable build and operational processes, and maintaining proactive communication.
